Drafts

When drafts save

The web composer saves a draft when:

  • You click Save in the composer.
  • You close the composer (Esc, or the close button).
  • You navigate away (browser back).

There’s no idle / per-keystroke autosave today. If you want a save mid-typing, click Save - then keep writing. The next save replaces the previous version.

Where drafts show up

  • Sidebar → Drafts - a dedicated folder listing every saved in-progress message across accounts.
  • A reply-in-progress is saved against its thread, so reopening the thread brings the unfinished reply back.

Discarding a draft

  • Click the Discard button in the composer.
  • Or open the Drafts folder, select the draft, and delete it.

Drafts and send profiles

A draft remembers the From profile that was active when you saved it. If you change your default profile later, existing drafts keep whatever profile they were saved with.

Mobile drafts

Mobile compose saves to the server when you tap Save or close the composer, the same as web. There is no offline draft mode on mobile today; if you draft a message without a connection, saving will fail until you’re back online. Treat the mobile composer as an online-only writing surface.
