Bulk archive by sender

The Triage screen is a wizard for clearing backlogs that pile up from a small number of high-volume senders (a newsletter you don’t read, a CI bot, a calendar app, a marketing list). It groups your inbox by sender, shows you the worst offenders, and lets you archive, mark read, or delete everything from one address in a single click.

Open triage

Click Triage in the sidebar (web), or open it from the inbox menu.

The flow

  1. Pick the sender list to work through. The wizard shows the top senders in your inbox, with message counts. Select the ones you want to triage.
  2. Review the summary. SuperMail shows totals per source so you know how much you’re about to touch.
  3. Work through each sender. For each one you’ll see their messages in a paginated list with checkboxes:
    • Archive all moves every message from that sender out of the inbox.
    • Read all marks every message read without changing folder.
    • Delete all moves every message from that sender to trash.
    • Or use the per-message checkboxes to make a partial selection, then apply the same actions to just the selected rows.
  4. Continue to the next sender when you’re done with the current one. Progress is tracked in the wizard header.

The bulk actions hit the same bulkUpdateEmails and bulkDeleteEmails paths as the inbox toolbar, so changes sync back to the source mailbox (Gmail labels, IMAP \Deleted, etc.) the same way a manual archive would.

When to use it

  • You came back from vacation with 800 unread newsletters.
  • A monitoring tool flooded you with 200 alerts overnight.
  • You unsubscribed from a list a week ago but the back-catalog is still in the inbox.

For per-message review (read each one, decide individually), open the message in the regular inbox and use the toolbar - triage is the bulk-by-sender path.
